EQUIPMENT SUGGESTIONS: A sturdy tripod is a necessity for good landscapes. Participants should have a working knowledge of their equipment (know which button does what!) before the workshop. I suggest a SLR camera with a wide-angle lens, (17-35mm range) and a zoom or fixed lens, like a 70-200 or 300mm. We have also had some point and shoot shooters attend as well; so don’t feel you have buy that latest and greatest. There’s a lot to learn just by seeing things.

LOCATION:

Join me in the heart of one of the most photographic states – Oregon. The workshop is based in the beautiful Cascade Mountain Range where dormant towering volcanic snow-capped peaks rise into the sky and form great backdrops for landscape photography.

We will be visiting at the peak of summer wildflower season. It is such a treat to shoot colorful stands of wildflowers in front of rushing creeks and waterfalls.

Starting our journey in Bend, we will have close access to iconic mountain lakes including Sparks and Todd’s. Nearby waterfalls such as Tumalo Falls are a treat. We will then head down to spectacular Crater Lake National Park. If you haven’t been there before, the first glance of the deep blue cobalt water will blow you away. There will be ample mountain wildflowers and great vistas along Rim Drive which circles the whole lake. The area lends itself to spectacular night-time photography as the stars are quite impressive at 7,000 feet. Due to limited lodging in the area, I have booked a series of cabins at Mazama village in the park.

This workshop package includes the Crater Lake cabins lodging as part of the fees. You must still book the Holiday Inn Express in Bend on your own.
