Visiting the more remote North Rim of the Grand Canyon has many advantages over it’s southern counterpoint. The views are just as impressive without the throngs of tourists crowding at the best overlooks. We will be arriving just as the park opens for the season. From our base at the Grand Canyon lodge we will be within driving and short hiking distance to most impressive viewpoints such as Imperial Point, Bright Angel Point and Cape Royal.
As a bonus, we will visit the legendary Upper Antelope Canyon in Page, Arizona. We will take a photography tour where our local guide will clear the rooms (for a few minutes) to enable us to shoot the astounding canyon walls. We will also make the short trip to the fabulous Horseshoe Bend overlook of the Colorado River.
EQUIPMENT SUGGESTIONS: A sturdy tripod is a necessity for good landscapes. Participants should have a working knowledge of their equipment (know which button does what!) before the workshop. I suggest a SLR camera with a wide-angle lens (17-35mm range), and a zoom or fixed lens, like a 70-200 or 300mm. We have also had some point and shoot shooters attend as well; so don’t feel you have buy that latest and greatest. There’s a lot to learn just by seeing things.
