Once again we return to the best fall colors in the Midwest at the Keweenaw Peninsula in the UP of Michigan. Hardwood forests of maples and birch turn vibrant shades of red, orange and yellow. The first two days will include: lighthouses on Lake Superior, a literal tunnel of golden trees near Houghton, and many other colorful forest scenes including one of my all-time favorites, the leaf strewn Wyoming Road .
We will then journey south to Porcupine Mountains State Park along the sandy shores of Lake Superior where a multitude of nature scenes await our cameras. The grand views above the iconic Lake of the Clouds, meandering streams strewn with red maple leaves, waterfalls and Lake Superior shorelines will keep us busy and very happy! We will also make the hour drive down to the amazing Bond Falls where autumn gold from the tree canopy reflects perfectly in the cascades. There is a wealth of stunning images to capture during our time in U.P. Don’t miss out!
EQUIPMENT SUGGESTIONS: A sturdy tripod is a necessity for good landscapes. Participants should have a working knowledge of their equipment (know which button does what!) before the workshop. I suggest a SLR camera with a wide-angle lens (17-35mm range), and a zoom or fixed lens, like a 70-200 or 300mm. We have also had some point and shoot shooters attend so don’t feel you have buy that latest and greatest. There’s a lot to learn just by seeing.
