Itinerary: Mount Rainier Summer Photography Tour and Workshop

Monday August 3- Meet and greet at the Paradise Inn. Sunset shoot of the Tatoosh Range

Tuesday August 4- Explore trails near Paradise. Mrytle Falls, Skyline Trail. Explore the wildflower meadows near Paradise.

Wednesday August 5- Sunrise/ Little Tipsoo Lake area

Thursday August 6– Reflection Lake

Friday August 7  Explore the wildflower meadows near Paradise. Workshop concludes after the morning field session.

Location:

One of the more stunning and underrated National Park locations will keep our cameras humming as the abundant colorful wildflower meadows are the highlight with enormous snow-clad Mount Rainier in the background. There are numerous waterfalls, intimate forest scenes and small lakes that can yield fantastic reflections. We’ll be based out the aptly named Paradise Valley.

Expect any kind of weather, even in summer. The massive mountain creates its own weather system. Though most of our locations are near the roadway, please note there will be hiking on trails involved to access some the locations. Expect 2-3 miles with elevation gain. Bring appropriate clothing and footwear (good hiking boots).

EQUIPMENT SUGGESTIONS:

A sturdy tripod is a necessity for good landscapes. Participants should have a working knowledge of their equipment (know which button does what!) before the workshop. I suggest a SLR camera with a wide-angle lens (17-35mm range) and a telephoto lens up in the 300-500mm range
