Cancellation Policy: If you cancel and the workshop is otherwise filled, we will refund you the full amount you have paid towards the tuition, minus a $150 service charge. If you cancel and the workshop does not fill, then you will be refunded according to the following schedule, based on the full fee of the Workshop:
Greater than 90 days from the start date of the Workshop: full refund minus $150 fee.
Less than 90 days: no refund
Refunds will be paid by the same method that the original payment was made.

Itinerary; Winter Pacific Waves Photography Tour
Sunday November 22- meet @ 3 pm for meet and greet at the Best Western Hotel in Long Beach, Washington.
Sunset shoot along the coast.
Monday November 23- 8 am- King Tide Waves @ Cape Disappointment State Park (high tide is 11am)
3-5 pm- lighthouses, birds
Tuesday November 24- am- King Tide Waves @ Cape Disappointment State Park.
Sunset shoot at Haystack Rock or Ecola State Park in Cannon Beach Suggested Hotel; Hallmark Resort

Location:
I have been traveling over to the Pacific Coast for the last few winters to experience the raw power of the ocean. Awe inspiring swells are caused by offshore storms, often coinciding with King Tides. It is very addictive to witness the crashing of these massive wave sets into cliffs and shorelines.
It is not only highly exciting to witness, but amazing to photograph! I find that capturing these waves to be one of the highlights of my year!
I have only included the famed Cape Disappointment at the mouth of the mighty Columbia River with previous tours. Besides the waves, the state park also has great lighthouses, beaches, birding and more.
We will finish out the tour by cruising back north along the famed Oregon Coast. The last evening of the trip will be visiting the scenic beaches of Cannon Beach with its iconic Haystack Rock and Ecola State Park. From this resort town, it will then be just a several hour drive back to the airport in Portland.
Please be flexible with the itinerary for this trip as the weather can be highly unpredictable at this time of year. We may pivot locations according to the conditions that will give us the best opportunities for photo success. When you reserve your hotels, please make them cancellable, in case we will want to change locations. Also, pack rain gear, grippy hiking boots, rubber boots for along the water and warmer clothing!
EQUIPMENT SUGGESTIONS: A sturdy tripod is a necessity for good landscapes. Participants should have a working knowledge of their equipment (know which button does what!) before the workshop. You will have ample opportunity to use most of the lens in your equipment bag for this special tour. I suggest a mirrorless camera with a wide-angle lens (17-35mm range) for beach scenics and a telephoto lens up to 100-500 +mm for isolating waves and birding opportunities.

Wednesday June 16- Meet and greet at the 712 Glenn Street, Best Western in Wall, South Dakota. Sunset shoot
Thursday June 17- Explore Badlands NP
Friday June 18- Explore Badlands NP
Saturday June 19- AM- Explore Badlands NP, drive to the Best Western Buffalo Ridge Inn in Custer in the Black Hills - Mount Rushmore, Needles Highway, etc.
Sunday June 20- Explore Custer State Park. Workshop concludes after the morning field session.
Location:
Much like Teddy Roosevelt National Park in North Dakota, the badlands here come alive with the warm light of early morning or late evening. By the summer solstice the prairie grasslands have greened up and wildflowers begin to pop. Dramatic thunderstorms can roll through creating dynamic landscape opportunities. There is also a variety of prairie wildlife to photograph such as bison, prairie dogs, pronghorn antelope and bighorn sheep will have newborn lambs.
We will travel over to scenic Black Hills for several sessions before departing. You don't want to miss this special class!
Expect any kind of weather, it can be mild or sudden thunderstorm systems can bring high winds and rain. Though most of our locations are near the roadway, please note there will be hiking on trails involved to access some the locations. Expect less than 2 miles with some elevation gain. Bring appropriate clothing and footwear (good hiking boots).
